Sundsta Golf 18-hole course – A varied challenge in Roslagen's nature
Sundsta Golf's 18-hole course, located just outside Norrtälje in the heart of Roslagen, offers a fantastic playing experience for all categories of golfers. The course is known for its high quality greens and fairways as well as its unique layout that harmoniously combines lush forest terrain with open, rolling landscapes. Here you will be greeted by a welcoming atmosphere and a course that rewards both strategic thinking and precision.
The course winds through a scenic Roslags landscape where old oak hills, strategic water hazards and well-placed bunkers frame the holes. Thanks to its clever design, each hole offers a new visual and gameplay character, making the round feel engaging from the first tee to the last putt.
Course character: Precision, variety and fun to play
Sundsta Golf's 18-hole course is designed to offer a fair but challenging experience. To achieve a good result, more focus is often required on placement than on pure length from the tee. The character of the course can be summarized in three points:
- Varied: The course is divided into clear sections where the open park holes require good wind assessment, while the forested holes place higher demands on straight shots and good club control.
- Strategic: Several holes offer classic risk-and-reward situations where you are faced with the choice of taking a chance over a water hazard or playing it safe.
- Top-class greens: Sundsta is known in the Stockholm area for maintaining a consistently high and consistent quality on its greens, which are often undulating and offer exciting readings.
Highlights along the route
- The opening park holes: The course starts in a relatively open environment where you are given the opportunity to find the rhythm of your swing, but where strategically placed bunkers and lateral water quickly demand your attention.
- The forest sections: Halfway into the round, the course narrows and you step into Roslagen's beautiful forest landscape. Here, precision is rewarded over length, and a missed shot can quickly lead to tough situations among the trees.
- The strategic water hazards: Several of the course's par 4 and par 5 holes are guarded by beautiful ponds and streams. Keeping track of your lengths to the penalty areas is key to keeping your score down at Sundsta.
- The final holes: The final holes take you back towards the clubhouse and offer an exciting conclusion to the round, where both nerves and club choice are put to the test in front of the audience on the restaurant terrace.
